Grants FAQ

What are “We See You” grants?

“We See You” grants are multi-year, unrestricted funding awards built on trust. They are designed to affirm the work Black-led organizations are already doing without placing unnecessary obstacles in the process.

Do I need to apply?

No. The BFCF does not run an open application for our “We See You” grants. Instead, we use an innovative process that relies on trusted relationships and community nominations to identify organizations doing transformative work.

What is the grant amount?

  • $50,000 in the first year
  • $10,000 per year over the next five years

What can the funding be used for?

The grant can be used toward anything that supports your mission and well-being. These funds are fully flexible and can be applied to staffing, programming, rent, professional development, and sustainability planning. You know what you need best to achieve your vision.

Do I have to submit reports?

No. These grants are built on trust. We value your leadership and accountability to your community. We may conduct collaborative site visits to learn more about your work, but never to evaluate or extract.

How will I know if we’re being considered?

If your organization is nominated and being considered for funding, a Black Future Co-op Fund team member will reach out directly. If you’d like to learn more or be in community with us, please reach out anytime.

I know a Black-led organization doing amazing work in the community. How can I nominate them?

If you know of an organization you’d like to nominate, please email Lanessa Caerrillo at lcerrillo@blackfuturewa.org

Where does the BFCF fund?

We fund Black-led organizations across Washington State. We span from urban to rural communities, and everywhere Black brilliance is at work.
