We see you: Look, Listen and Learn TV
1. Who are you as an organization?
Look, Listen + Learn TV (LL+L TV) is a nonprofit 501c3 media organization featuring the brilliance of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) for everyone to see.
We exist at the intersection of art, science, and media to foster early learning. Our work supports social-emotional skills and nurtures healthy interactions that encourage school readiness for 3 to 8-year-olds. We produce an award-winning television series called Look, Listen + Learn (LL+L).
In the loving tradition of Mr. Rogers, we invite young children to explore books, music, cooking, and more with co-hosts Possum and Auntie Lena. You can watch the show and find out more about us by visiting our website at looklistenandlearn.org or check out our YouTube channel!
2. What is your vision for a free Black future, and how is your organization contributing to that vision?
We envision a future of racial inclusion where seeing all children succeed and live into their full potential is the norm.
We work to preserve and celebrate the culture and heritage of BIPOC communities through media. We present culturally-relevant storytelling, fundamental social-emotional skills, and critical messages of love and hope in our early learning media program.
We work to ensure racial diversity in multiple ways, including on screen representation of intergenerational Black, Indigenous and other communities of color; filming in culturally specific locations where BIPOC communities are celebrated; and featuring culturally specific themes, stories and content in our episodes. In addition, we actively support a variety of cultural events, cultural programs, and efforts aimed at showcasing the brilliance of BIPOC people.
3. How has the Black Future Co-op Fund helped support your work? In what other ways would you like more support?
LL+L TV is fully committed to improving access to early learning resources necessary to address systemic issues in education that disproportionately affect BlPOC communities.
Funding will help us further our mission to advance early learning in children of color through media and television. You can support us by watching the show and informing others to help us increase viewership. Our show relies on financial support and donations to stay on the air. Our gratitude goes out to everyone who supports us.
