Community Powered Prosperity

“Ours is not the struggle of one day, one week or one year ... Ours is the struggle of a lifetime, or maybe even many lifetimes, and each one of us in every generation must do our part.”
— John Lewis, “Across That Bridge: Life Lessons and a Vision for Change”

This June we have so much to celebrate. It marks our fourth year as a fund, a special time of Pride for our LGBTQIA+ siblings, and 159 years since the true day of freedom in our country on Juneteenth.

These celebrations are a reminder of the freedom, power, resilience, and brilliance that Black people demonstrate each and every day. As we reflect on the progress made by our ancestors, it is critical for us to continue opening doors for generations yet to come.

We created the Black Future Co-op Fund with the vision of a Washington state, working cooperatively, where all Black people can be liberated, prosperous and self-determined in living their lives. We purposefully called ourselves a co-op because we know it will take our entire community working together to achieve that vision.

As we commemorate our fourth year as a fund, we are still committed to shifting the paradigm of philanthropy to be by and for Black people and remain rooted in the brilliance of Blackness. In these four years, with the support of our community, we have been able to:

Our very existence is a testament to the fact that our community is our prosperity. We have the talent and the tools within our community to create a radically free future.  We are honored to build with brilliant Black leaders in every community who are making meaningful impact despite all odds.

As we celebrate this June, and move into year five of the Fund, we invite you on this journey, as it is our collective power that is our true wealth. This June, consider making a contribution towards our work to create a radically free Black future – together
